Class updates

Greetings everyone and happy autumn! Here are some quick class updates:

1.      Psychospiritual development beginner level is running and starts Tuesday, October 4 at 7 PM. If you’re sitting on the fence this is the class to take especially if you're looking at certification. There is still room for 2 or 3 more students in this class. Let me know ASAP!  Please bring a binder for notes.  The course fee is $125.00 and runs until November 22.

2.      Meditation Mondays are also happening starting Monday, October 17 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.  We're doing a number of different kinds of meditation practices and there is a little overflow with psychospiritual development so this is a good refresher class.  We are doing birch bark burden basket exercises, crystal meditation, Angel meditation, standard meditation, vibrational harmonics and more!  This class runs until December 19 and the course fee is $90.00.

3.      Traditional Séance - the first date is sold out, so we are offering a second traditional séance night on Sunday, November 6 from 7 PM until 10 PM. The circle Is limited to 10 participants.  Anyone on the current waiting list gets first dibs.  Register early!  This séance is happening the night before Brian’s 70th birthday so this could be quite interesting.

4.      Dowsing refresher class is also running - this is open to all former students of the original course who want to update their skills. Sunday, November 20, 1 PM to 4 PM. $20.00

5.      Tarot and Divination Sunday, October 16 is full, however we are adding a second date of Thursday, November 24, 7 PM to 10 PM.  Class fee is $25.00 and those on the waiting list get first dibs at seats.  Register early!

6.      Psychospiritual development advanced level is canceled.

University starts

The kid has flown the coop, fledged the nest, dipped her toes in the waters of adulthood...  Angeni just turned 18 in mid-August and as of Labour Day weekend she's off to university,  We don't feel the empty nesting yet...  less laundry, fewer dishes, the house is quieter and we are back to work.  I am sure we'll miss her more as things settle into a pattern.  I cannot believe how quickly time has flown - this is the focus of my amazement around all of this shift.  Only 15 years ago we finally got her out of diapers!

I look at Brian and see a man turning 70 shortly.  A vibrant man, still climbing on the roof and doing his wood art...  loading and unloading the fledgling at school, and being "the guy".  He looks after me, now that I need the power wheelchair.  I look at my face, turning 60 next year, and it doesn't look too bad yet.  I tell myself the wrinkles are from weight loss, not aging!  Hahahahahaaa.

Life goes on...  this third dimensional life is swift and short, amusing and amazing.  On to a new chapter.  Have a great week.

Peace

***NEW***
Traditional Spiritualist Séance - join us for our circle on Sunday, October 30, 7 - 10 PM. This is limited to ten participants and the cost is $20.00.  We used to do these regularly in other parts of Ontario but it’s a first for us locally.  Bring a crystal, and an open mind.

Dowsing Refresher - this is open to students who’ve already taken our dowsing course.  It’s one day Sunday, November 20 from 1 - 4 PM. Please bring your original dowsing notes, pendulums and L rods.  We’ll review and work on technique, asking correct questions and have some fun.  $20.00
Tarot and Divination - this should be prove to be a fun afternoon of learning the differences between tarot decks and regular divination formats.  We will work with various traditional cards and divination types and everyone comes away with a reading.  Seating is limited so register early.  Feel free to bring a snack to share Sunday, October 16, 1 to 4:30 PM.  $25.00.

Psychospiritual Development - Beginner Level - This is the most popular, intense and exciting of our courses.  Developing psychically and spiritually go hand-in-hand, and happen in a safe (if swift) format.  This is not for the faint-of-heart; you must be ready to try mediumship, trance work, and psychokinetic practices.  The beginner level works at a quick pace through the metaphysical basics to understand the possible paths of spiritual development, and acts as the foundation for the advanced level which focuses only on mediumship, trance work, healing, and meditation practices. Psychospiritual development is THE foundation for every other course we have, and will, ever teach.  It is a directed, formal study of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, clairolfaction and psychokinesis through a variety of practices: levitation, spirit photography and recordings, learning to see the aura (aurvoyance), apparitions, psychometry, meditation, altered states of consciousness, psychomantium (scrying), out-of-body experiences, karma, phases of spiritual growth, types of spiritual beings and more. Mediumship techniques and channelling are practised weekly. Historic techniques and modern, scientific parameters are studied. This course changes people - be prepared for many new life experiences, and homework! Students are to bring to each class: a binder, pen, any course notes from earlier development groups and PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME. Do dress comfortably. 80% attendance is required for a certificate. Class size is limited - register early to ensure your space!  Tuesdays Oct, 4 to Nov. 22 inclusive, 7 – 10 PM, $125.00

Psychospiritual Development – Open Level: More channelling, more general exercises and more homework!  This is open to participants who’ve already taken our previous psychospiritual development beginner class.  Students need to dress comfortably, and bring your notes from the first level.   Thursdays October 6 to November 24 inclusive, 7 – 10 PM. $125.00

The necessity of alone time…

So here I sit on this the twenty-fifth of August, alone for a whole day for the first time all summer. I have no appointments, nothing structured and no "have to's". I'm almost giddy - in fact if I'm honest - I am giddy. For all the work I do in public I'm actually a loner! To that end alone time is really important to me and I recognize (often in hindsight when I'm building up a cranky) it's because I haven't had time just by myself.  Those boudaries again...

If someone phones I won't answer...  Emails can wait until after Labour Day. I've longed all these weeks for some actual time off. That being said, we're still preparing Angeni for her fledging of the nest on September 4, which goes without saying...  The shopping for clothes and dorm supplies has happened.  She's pulling her transition items together on the table in my studio preparing to pack them up on September 3rd.  She's pulling out autumn clothes and making sure her laundry is caught up.  Dad is in the process of reorganizing the setup of the van to accommodate appliances and moving dollies. It's a good excuse to strip the van of all garbage and recycling.  I will encourage a thorough vacuuming.  I think today while they are gone to Kitchener I will use this opportunity to disassemble the shrine to Hello Kitty.  So far I've been saying quite publicly that I won't be sad to see Angeni go, but putting away this marker of teenage silliness instills nostalgia.

A lot of the thoughts bubbling up over these past weeks revolve around end-of-life issues.  I've done my best to suppress them but it took until yesterday for me to realize I am overlaying end-of-life with end of cycle, specifically the parenting cycle. There are huge differences and my emotional self is now coming more in alignment with my spiritual knowledge around these concepts. The end-of-life thoughts are completely unnecessary and reflect anxiety, which is living in the future.  I feel much calmer today because I can reconcile why these anxious thoughts bubbled to the surface.  It's a conditioning really; old tapes and loops reflecting ways I used to think.  The stress of having my daughter go to University brought up the old tapes and loops.  I am reflecting and consciously choosing now to remove those old tapes and loops and put them in the recycling bin, so to speak...  They do not serve me and would create depression and despondency in my physical selfhood.  Dangerous stuff, especially to health.  So I'm glad I can nip these feelings in the bud and replace them with more proactive, healthy processing. Sometimes our home is a little bit like the shoemakers shop.  The old proverbial shoemaker's children go barefoot because he is just too busy, tired or uninterested in making shoes for his own children.  Sometimes I'm just too tired to apply on myself the same standards and principles I would use with my clients.

So here I am at the Angel moment of 11:11.  I'm going to get off this machine now and go play in my studio!  I have a few wee quilts to finish binding.  It's hard to believe it's barely a month away until the Bay Studio Tour on October 1/2nd.  I hate to say it but I work better with a deadline.

Have a wonderful week.  Peace.

Wow, what a life-changing summer!

As I write this today, my daughter turns 18.  She graduated with honours from grade 12 and received 6 awards/scholarships from the community!!!  To cap it all off, she just received confirmation of acceptance to Trent, and moves there on the Labour Day weekend.  We feel thunderstruck!  This is the best possible thing for her, rather than the"victory lap" she envisioned doing...  Angeni is in the Bachelor of Indigenous Education program, and after 5 years receives dual bachelors...  she wants to teach music, as she specializes in percussion.  We are ready for our wee bird to fledge the nest, and it is amazing.

The courses and channeling took off, in a big way, last winter...  this trend continued into the spring and summer.  Our last course finished on July 21st, and while we thought we'd get a break, all this university prep ramped up...  so no break.  We've done lots of ceremonies and teaching in the community, and I've been working on a medicine/marriage blanket for a wedding we are performing next weekend...  Even the celebrations for equinox and solstice have filled the house to standing room only! The shamanic gatherings are flourishing and we've added 4 more practitioners.  That is it, as we are maxed out in that department.

So, life in a wheelchair is busier than ever.  I am adapting, and peaceful...  In a few short weeks we're back in the teaching circuit and planning for shows.  The Bay Studio Tour is on the weekend of Oct. 1st and 2nd...  hopefully Brian will have time to make more bowls and shawl pins.

I love my life...

Enjoy the rest of the summer!  Kathryn
