Autumn Classes and Events

Moonstar Lodge Autumn Newsletter – September, 2019
Greetings everyone,
Fastest summer I can remember - phew! We thought we’d better update everyone on the goings-on here at Moonstar…
1.     Firstly, we’d like to extend an invitation for the Art Map Studio Tour and Bay Studio Tour weekend Friday, October 4, 5 & 6. We will be open 10 AM to 5 PM each day. Again this year Monica Ironside will be joining us on Saturday and Sunday.  We’ve changed the studio set up and are offering incredible discounts on some of the older jewelry items. Brian is working on more “God boxes”, platters/charcuterie boards, funky pens and some additional wood-art pieces.  We’d be delighted to have you join us…
2.     As of September 8th we are returning to individual spiritual counselling (including regression); channeling, tarot and oracle sessions; weddings and funerals, individual healing and shamanic services [soul retrieval and healing]. Feel free to make your booking.
3.     Classes this term steer the teaching toward shamanism.  Here they are:
Psychospiritual Development – Beginner Level: Psychospiritual development is THE foundation for every other course we teach.   It is a directed, formal study of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, clairolfaction, claircognizance and psychokinesis through a variety of practices: levitation, spirit photography and recordings, learning to see the aura (aurvoyance), apparitions, psychometry, meditation, altered states of consciousness, psychomantium (scrying), out-of-body experiences, karma, phases of spiritual growth, types of spiritual beings and more.   Mediumship techniques and channelling are practised weekly.   This course changes people - be prepared for many new life experiences, and homework! Bring to each class: a binder, pen, pendulums, any course notes from earlier development groups and PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME.   Do dress comfortably.  Thursday evenings Oct. 10 to Dec. 5 (inclusive) 7 PM to 9:30PM $200 for 9 weeks.
Crystals:  Learn the application of crystals to the chakras and journeying, within the context of aboriginal traditions. This is a prerequisite for Shamanism. Topics covered include: crystal categories, cleansing and preparation; various prayers and meditations using crystals; totem animals; making crystal essences; combining crystals and the chakras; dowsing; traditional scrying methods; the pendulum; healing rods; and care of your stones.  No workshop on crystals would be complete without healing demonstrations, so dress comfortably.  Please bring lunch, a binder, pen, and whatever crystals you possess.  Sunday, Sept. 22, 9:30 AM to 4 PM $90
Aboriginal Healing:  A basic course - we look at the medicine wheel, moon cycle aspects, uses of traditional medicine objects of the northeast, and the basic healing rituals that a medicine person performs.  Bring notebooks, crystals and whatever healing objects you have.  Wear comfortable clothing as we’ll be doing healings. This is an important prerequisite to the Shamanism program.  Bring lunch, a binder, and snacks.   Sunday, Oct. 20 9:30 AM to 4 PM $90

Shamanism:  We are offering these teachings to those who are certain that this is part of their path.  These studies are meant for people of all races, creeds and religions, but like any other spiritual study, this is not for everyone.  This workshop covers shamanic practices of the northeast, and topics include: sacred medicine objects and their use, ethics, healing traditions, ceremonies, correct use of spirit herbs, dream walking, spirit walking, totem animals, and shapeshifting.  Be prepared to bring whatever medicine/sacred objects you have, along with a drum. Bring lunch, a binder, and snacks.   Sunday, Nov.3 9:30 AM to 4 PM $90
Tarot and Oracles (updated) – I can’t have a term without tarot and oracles!  This is always a fun afternoon to review the differences between tarot decks and oracle formats. It’s important to learn the right way to ask questions, and focus within to our higher self. What does it really mean to “read cards”? We will review this…  Reversed cards? Not an issue and not scary!! We will work with various new oracle cards and divination types and everyone comes away with a reading by a fellow student. This version of the class has some classic tableau layouts to review.  We also discuss care, handling and cleansing cards. Bring a binder for handouts. Seating is limited so register early.  Feel free to bring your own decks, and a snack to share. Sunday, Nov. 24 1 PM to 4:30 PM $50.00
4.     Open House – our annual event is being held Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1, from 10 AM to 5 PM.  We’re not sure what the door prize will be, but we’re working on it!
5.     Winter Solstice Gathering – one of our most loved events, we gather on Sunday, December 22 at 1 PM until 4 PM. It is a potluck, and you need to bring an object to “re-home” in a plain bag – something which you no longer need and wish to pass on the energy.  We speak to the season with the talking stick. This is an opportunity for great spiritual exchange. For further information email me! Registration is essential to hold a seat as space is limited.

Gift certificates in any amount are always available…
Your early registration is requested and only fully paid seats are held.

Spring Classes 2019

Greetings everyone!

Here are the courses we are offering this Spring. Hope you can join us soon!
Psychic and Spiritual Development – Beginner – Wednesdays, April 10 to June 5 (inclusive) 7 PM to 9:30 PM, $150
It is a directed, formal study of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, clairolfaction and psychokinesis through a variety of practices: levitation, spirit photography and recordings, learning to see the aura (aurvoyance), apparitions, psychometry, meditation, altered states of consciousness, psychomantium (scrying), out-of-body experiences, karma, phases of spiritual growth, types of spiritual beings, oracles and more. Mediumship techniques and channelling are practised weekly. Historic techniques and modern, scientific parameters are studied.
This is the most popular, intense and exciting of our courses.  Developing psychically and spiritually go hand-in-hand, and happen in a safe format.  This is not for the faint-of-heart; you must be ready to try mediumship, trance work, and psychokinetic practices.  The beginner level works at a quick pace through the metaphysical basics to understand the possible paths of spiritual development, and acts as the foundation for the advanced level which focuses only on mediumship, trance work, healing, and meditation practices. Psychospiritual development is THE foundation for every other course we have taught, and will ever teach.  This course changes people - be prepared for many new life experiences, and homework! Students are to bring to each class: a binder, pen, and PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME. Do dress comfortably. One must attend eight out of the nine classes to receive a certificate. Class size is limited – register with your payment early to ensure your space!

Dowsing – Beginner - Sunday, May 26, 9:30 AM to 4 PM $80
We mentor students in the use of a single, suspended pendulum and 2 L-shaped dowsing rods. The weather should be warm enough to assure lots of practice outside doing geomantic dowsing, and beginning principles of radiesthetic dowsing for healing work.  This class looks at ley lines, vortices and ghost paths. We practice alphabets, orienteering techniques, compass work and more. Please bring a lunch, binder, pen, crystals, pendulums and L-rods if you have them.  We have pendulums and L-rods at a nominal fee for those students who require them. Classes are limited to 10 participants - register early!

Dowsing – Advanced - Sunday, June 9, 9:30 AM to 4 PM $80
In this level we focus more on radiesthetic dowsing while reviewing the skills learned in geomantic dowsing. The whole day will be spent analyzing chakras, crystal layouts, haric points, and healing.  Everyone gets a chance to practise and receive healing through the day. Don’t forget your rods, crystals, pendulums, a binder, as well as your lunch. Classes are limited to 10 participants - register early!

You can register and pay for a course by using Interac or PayPal (send to my e-mail: brian@moonstarlodge.com) or by using the PayPal button on our website: http://www.moonstarlodge.com/courses.html

Tarot and Oracles become a library

So here we are in 2019… I've had quite the year. This time last year I lost the use of my hands and didn't find out the reason until March. I have an unusual form of rheumatoid arthritis which can have a dance partner in lymphoma. So I've been under various regimens of pharmaceutical experiments attempting to find the one that will put this all in remission. At least I have most of the use of my hands, most of the time… Rheumatoid arthritis killed my younger sister in 2009 and I know it's a lifetime dance partner. It affects your heart, other organs and vision in addition to all the damage to your joints and limbs.

While I've been recovering, I found a real change in my purpose and focus. I had to stop working entirely in August and September. I could not provide spiritual support at the local Cancer Centre anymore. I could not see clients in my home, nor teach my beloved classes. The paradox of all of this is that my intuitive skills ramped up incredibly. My body is more decrepit but my connection to Spirit is exponentially improved. I decided I wanted to try and catalogue all 500 or so tarot, oracles and divination tools for a reason.  It came to me that three things were trying to "birth" – a round Oracle to be used in the teaching of psychospiritual development, the pictographic runes and play board I devised over 20 years ago, and finally a book on the historical interconnections of tarot with the Crusades, Egypt and divination systems in central and western Europe. I needed to do research with all the materials I've collected since 1976. They were in a disarray…

This brings me to my tarot journey and the library. I've been trying to make a successful tarot library since the late 80s and DOS. Brian and I were discussing how many library programs I've had just to try and track all of my tarot, oracles and international divination systems. Most of the programs I tried either didn't have the capacity for the books and cards, or they were cumbersome. The worst ones were unsupported by the developers after about a year. Or I would upgrade windows and the old programs wouldn't work anymore. I have a 3 inch binder full of printed pages of partially complete library information from these old programs. I do own a license to a library program since 2014 but it just didn't work for me.

For a while now I've been trying to find open source, freeware or Linux-based library systems which didn't involve an external server/cloud/monthly subscriptions and similar. I did not want something that a lending library would use since I'm not loaning out my materials. I simply wanted to catalogue my own materials on my own computer for the purpose of research. Out of the blue I actually found something the other night. I downloaded it and used a barcode scanner which I bought for the previous software and never got to use. I was completely elated with the results of the trial. I am about to register this software. The company is called Bolide Software" In case any of you want to check it out here is the link:

This is more than a blatant plug... I like to support small businesses. These people specialize in archival software over different type of media. I want my friends and readers with similar issues to make use of a journey which for me has been 43 years...  By this I mean the journey of collecting tarot and trying to catalogue and organize it. But you could be wanting to organize DVDs, or e-books, or photos. I asked a question of a company rep in an email and got an answer within 12 hours. Real people talk to me, not an FAQ. Check them out if you like.

So this winter you will find me in my teaching room cataloguing away. I'm doing my best overcome and work with the rheumatoid arthritis. I'm back to seeing a few clients but not anything like I was. I can do a winter's dream journey with my tarot and oracles one by one as I archive them. My thanks to Bolide software for helping me to get organized.
